Fluid Mechanics for Chemical Engineers

Errata

First determine which printing you have, by looking at the last digit in the sequence 10, 9, 8, 7, etc. that appears above the ISBN number on the reverse of the title page. Then click on one of the following two options.

First and second printings

There were seven known major errors in the first and second printings, namely:

1. Page 270. P5.19(f) should read: "The divergence of a vector is a scalar."

2. Page 292, Example 6.5, Eqn. (E.6.5.8). Change ln(r/r1) to ln(r/r2), and change -(r2 - r12), to (r22 - r2). (The expression for the volumetric flow rate in Eqn. (6.5.11) is correct as is.)

3. Page 410. The right-hand side of Eqn. (P8.7.2) should be: 1 + ce-15mx/2rQh ∞.

4. Page 450. Eqn. (9.126) should f = tanh z, not f = tanh2 z.

5. Page 458. Problem 9.14. The denominator in last equation should be n, not m.

6. Page 459. Problem 9.18.The second line should contain f1 = df/dx, not df/dz.

7. Page 551, Problem 11.5(d). Change "Prove for n > 2" to "Prove as n goes to infinity."

Third and fourth printings

There are two known errors in the third and fourth printings, namely:

Page 292, Example 6.5, Eqn. (E.6.5.8). Change ln(r/r1) to ln(r/r2), and change -(r2/r12), to (r22/r2) (The expression for the volumetric flow rate in Eqn. (6.5.11) is correct as is.)
